With Marshall Mendez aboard, Bahamian Girl scored by a nose with 4 1/2 furlongs in :53.24 after having won each of her previous two races by nearly five lengths. She paid $4.60 and earned a check for $20,340, raising her career total to $196,348 on a record of 7-3-4 in 35 starts. The 5-year-old mare bred by McKathan Bros. has won three of her five 2022 starts.
Bahamian Moon, another 5-year-old mare bred by Good Beginnings Farm, won by 2 3/4 lengths under a hand ride in the stretch by Skyler Spanabel. She raced 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:04 flat, just over one second off the track record and paid $8.40. Her $14,380 check increased her earnings to $104,234 on a record of 5-6-1 in 19 tries. Lovielee, who went off at 35-1, collected $2,400 for her third-place finish.
