Sweet Nola Scores at Presque Isle and Returns a Sweet $63.40

Sweet Nola pulled the old ‘last to first’ routine under Scott Spieth in a race at a mile and 70 yards over the all-weather track at Presque Isle Downs.

Spieth had the 4-year-old First Dude filly in eighth place down the backstretch, about eight lengths off the pace, and she began to move coming to the turn. The filly bred by Frank Mermenstein and Tom McCrocklin fanned out wide into the stretch and out-gamed her rivals to the wire by one length, lighting up the tote board to the tune of $63.40. She was clocked in 1:43.02.

It was Sweet Nola’s second victory of 2024 and raised her career record to 3-4-1 in 20 starts. The check for $8,400 boosted her bank account to $55,144.
