Stakes-Placed Ray Arewethereyet Is Back in Business

In her first five career starts at Gulfstream Park, Tampa Bay Downs and Monmouth Park, Ray Arewethereyet ran up a creditable record of 3-1-1, which included a third in the $100,000 Stonehedge Farm South Sophomore Fillies Stakes at Tampa. That was followed by a five-race streak in which her best finish was a lone third.

She wound up toiling for several different barns along the way, and the then-4-year-old daughter of First Dude found herself in the catalogue for the 2022 Keeneland November Horses of Racing Sale where she was purchased for $8,000 by owner/trainer Trevor Rushton.

After a freshening of five months, Ray Arewethereyet returned on April 8 at Fonner Park and finished a bang-up second, recording a 91 Equibase speed figure. Yesterday, with Adrian Ramos aboard, she revved it up a notch and scored her fourth victory, collecting $5,640 after reaching the wire 1 3/4 lengths in front in 1:14 flat for the six furlongs. She became winner No. 23 for First Dude in 2023 and raised her record to 4-2-2 in 12 starts with earnings of $126,920.
