Riley’s Dude Was Last, But Not for Long

Riley’s Dude followed up his Oct. 29 victory at Delaware Park by making it two straight with a come-from-behind score over a sloppy track at Penn National.

With Julio Hernandez riding, the 4-year-old First Dude gelding dropped back to last down the backstretch about five lengths off the lead, made a strong four-wide run on the turn and into the lane, then drew off to win by 2 1/4 lengths as announcer John Bogar brought him home with “Riley’s Dude was last, now he’s first.”

The gelding bred by the Jerome G. Bozzo Trust paid $3.60 after getting the six furlongs in 1:11.80. He earned $9,840, raising his career total to $128,970 on a record of 4-5-2 in 20 starts.
