After Ray Arewethereyet finished eighth and last racing for $22,000 at Monmouth Park on Aug. 27 of 2022, she wound up in the catalogue for the Keeneland November Horses of Racing Age sale. She hadn’t won a race since Aug. 13 of 2021, and she sold for just $8,000 to trainer Temple Rushton and his partner, Kevin Waggoner.
Now five, Rayarewethereyet didn’t show up in the entries for her new owners for 7 1/2 months. Since her return, the daughter of First Dude has raced five times, posting a highly commendable record of 3-1-1, with victory No. 3 coming yesterday at Arapahoe Park in the $22,900 Molly Brown purse at six furlongs.
The mare bred by Raymond Mamone rallied from a stalking position to score by nearly four lengths in 1:11.81, collecting a check for $13,740. That increased her total to $32,456 for her new barn, and $151,856 for her career, in which she has raised her record to 6-2-3 in 15 starts.
