Ragatagtag earned an 85 speed figure from Equibase after winning the seventh race at Assiniboia Downs last night, her best number over her last 15 starts and coming just five days after her last start in the Canada Stakes.
The number was well-deserved: the 6-year-old daughter of First Dude won the six-furlong race by 2 3/4 lengths and she was widening as she crossed the finish line in 1:11.40. Antonio Whitehall was aboard Ragatagtag and he hustled her out of the gate, then eased back to fourth. She began to close an eight-length gap on the backstretch along the rail, swung off the inside on the turn and ran away and hid down the lane, rewarding her backers with a generous $35.40 mutuel.
It was the second victory of 2022 for the mare bred by Adam and Suzette Parker, and raised her record to 9-12-2 in 36 starts. She earned $8,528 in U. S. currency, and with $172,101 in the bank, has a good chance of joining First Dude’s $200,000 club in the near future.
