Petulant Delight scored his second victory of 2022 and 10th of his career at Parx Racing yesterday, and added his name to First Dude’s $200,000-plus earnings list.
The 7-year-old gelding, a $37,000 OBS April 2-year-old, had Luis Rivera in the irons and was sent off at 8/5 in the race at seven furlongs. Petulant Delight was off well from the rail, and took up a position in second place down the backstretch. He dropped back to third coming to the final turn, where Rivera swung him five wide for the stretch run and the gelding bred by Ocala Stud Farm ran past the two leaders in the final 50 yards, winning by three-quarters of a length in 1:25.69.
Petulant Delight collected a check for $18,000, raising his career total to $206,109 on a record of 10-8-4 in 40 starts, and moving him into 19th place among all First Dude runners. It also increased the progeny earnings of the stallion by Stephen Got Even to $1,936,776 as he heads for his seventh straight season over the $2 million mark.
