With two days left on the March racing calendar, First Dude has now registered nine winners since the 10th of the month, along with last weekend’s two stakes-placed runners. Winner No. 9 is Myhessexpress, who annihilated the field yesterday in a 6 1/2-furlong maiden race at Parx Racing.
The 3-year-old gelding bred in Pennsylvania by Carl Hess Jr. didn’t look anything like a horse who hadn’t won in his first 10 starts. With Silvestre Gonzalez aboard, Myhessexpress was off fourth in a field of five, moved up on the rail nearing the turn, swung wide to go after the leaders entering the stretch and left the others in the dust as he coasted to the wire 6 1/4 lengths in front.
Myhessexpress paid $11.20 and earned a healthy check for $17,640, which sent First Dude’s 2021 progeny earnings to $504,407. In addition, his career earnings soared to $18,960,332. He became his sire’s 20th winner of the year, tying him for second among all Florida stallions.
