Miss Star Lo is unique among the thousands of thoroughbred runners competing in 2021. The 7-year-old mare by First Dude has raced 50 times in her long career, and every start has come at Parx Racing.
No. 50 came yesterday and her cake-walk victory raised her record to 8-6-6, while the $18,000 winner’s check increased her earnings to $139,930.
Luis Rivera was aboard Miss Star Lo in the race at six furlongs ad he hustled her out of the gate from the No. 2 post. There was a brief battle for the lead going to the first quarter, but Miss Star Lo quickly took over going to the turn and opened up daylight heading into the stretch. The mare bred by Marti Erin Haught, owner of Ocala’s Tack Shack, held a five-length lead in mid-stretch and cruised to the wire nearly four in front. She paid $8.40 and was clocked in 1:12.08 for her second victory this year.
