Like so many of First Dude’s runners before him, Petulant Delight doesn’t compete at the levels that he once did, but at the ripe old age of nine, he still continues to make his presence felt in his current company.
In the fourth race at Parx yesterday, a six-furlong test with Luis Rivera aboard, Petulant Delight raised his lifetime record to an awesome 14-10-4 in 61 starts. Coming from last place in a five-horse field, and making up five lengths in the final sixteenth, he was up at the wire to defeat 3/10 favorite Six Whips by half a length, clocked in 1:12.96. The $37,000 OBS April 2017 2-year-old earned a check for $10,800, raising his career total to $263,679, of which $42,980 has come this year.
With his 14 winning performances, Petulant Delight is the third best heat-winner for First Dude, behind Sunset Paula Jo (20) and Starship Apollo (16). In addition, he’s in 22nd place on the First Dude $200,000 or better list.
