In his first five career starts in 2023, Right Karma’s best effort was one second-place finish; he then spent 18 months on the bench. But the 5-year-old son of First Dude bred by Best A Luck Farm has returned with a vengeance, finishing fourth, then second, and now with three straight victories under Edgard Zayas at Gulfstream Park.
Right Karma has boosted his Equibase ‘E’ speed figure in each of his last four starts, including a career-best 84 in his latest. Zayas settled the $160,000 OBS April 2-year-old in mid-pack early in the race at a flat mile. They made a strong wide move on the turn that shot Right Karma into the lead at the top of the stretch, and he drew away late to win by nearly three lengths in 1:37.60. He’s now 3-2-0 in nine starts, and his last check raised his earnings to $58,190, with $42,600 coming in his last four starts.
P. S. Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. lost his new star for $8,000.
