Time to Cruise jumped up four spots, from 23rd place to 19th, on First Dude’s $200,000 list with a hard-earned victory over favored Optic Way in a one-mile test at Parx Racing.
The 5-year-old Pennsylvania-bred gelding broke quickly from the No. 4 post with Mychel Sanchez and moved into second place behind Optic Wood down the backstretch. Time to Cruise went after his stablemate from the Jamie Ness barn on the turn, then out-gamed Optic Way by half a length in the run to the wire. It was eight lengths back to the third-place finisher.
The gelding bred by Ocala’s Best A Luck Farm paid $11.80 after getting the mile in 1:40.89 and collecting a check for $26,880, which increased his career total to $288,081 on a record of 6-5-7 in 27 starts. In his last eight tries at Parx, Laurel and Penn National, Time to Cruise has been first, second or third in seven. And, he was claimed for $25,000.
