First Dude roared past the $20 million mark in career progeny earnings yesterday when Ray Arewethereyet romped to her second straight victory in a $62,500 Allowance Optional Claiming race at Monmouth Park.
The filly bred by Raymond Mamone earned a check for $37,500; First Dude only needed about $16,000 to reach his milestone.
Jomar Torres was aboard Ray Arewethereyet in the five-furlong test, and she was sent off as the even-money second choice. Torres settled her in third place down the backstretch, and after a quarter in :22.10, he sent her after 4/5 choice Decade on the turn. As they straightened out in the stretch, Ray Arewethereyet left the favorite in the dust, drawing off to score by 3 1/4 lengths without the need of urging. She was clocked in :57.62, about 1 2/5ths off the track record, and it would have been closer if Torres had persevered in the last 100 yards. She received an 88 ‘E’ speed figure from Equibase, her best rating this year.
Ray Arewethereyet is 3-1-1 in five starts and her earnings jumped to $110,300.
