First Dude 4-Year-Old Still Making Impact in Canada

Impacto’s excellent form at Century Mile continued Sunday evening, the 4-year-old First Dude gelding raising his record over the track to 5-2-1-1 since shipping in from Tampa Bay Downs.

With Keihton Natera in the saddle, Impacto battled for the lead through blazing fractions of :21.75 and :44.14 in the $19,500 allowance optional claimer, then left the field behind to win by nearly four lengths in 1:09.27 for the six furlongs, less than two seconds off the track record. He paid $13 and received an Equibase ‘E’ speed figure of 93.

Added to his debut victory in Oldsmar, the gelding bred by Jose Miguel Contreras, who didn’t race at two or three, is now 3-1-1 in six tries with earnings of $29,407.
