Famous Gent made it two victories in a row at Gulfstream Park yesterday and in so doing, moved up several slots into 18th place in First Dude’s $200,000 club. 

    Javier Castellano was in the saddle in the $42,000 starter allowance at five furlongs on the grass, and he positioned the 5-year-old gelding off the rail in sixth place down the backstretch. Famous Gent made a strong wide run on the turn, then ran down the leaders in the stretch to score by half a length in :55.23. He paid $6 as favorite, and the $25,600 winner’s check boosted his career earnings to $229,450 on a record of 6-5-8 in 31 starts. This year alone, he’s 2-1-0 in four starts with earnings of $63,850.
