Debbie’s Passion became stakes-placed for the first time yesterday, finishing third for owner/breeder Raymond Mamone in the one-mile, $60,000 Millions Classic Preview at Gulfstream West.
The 4-year-old colt by First Dude broke quickly from the inside under Hector Berrios, who eased him back to third along the rail down the backside. Debbie’s Passion moved up to the top pair while three wide on the final turn and finished well, but was unable to improve his position in the stretch. The third-place check of $6,000 increased the colt’s earnings to $117,050 on a record of 3-1-2 in 10 starts.
