Correa and Purdy Pumpkin Score Again at Thistledown

The bond between Yarmarie Correa and Purdy Pumkin at Thistledown was strengthened yesterday as she guided the 3-year-old filly to her second straight victory, this one in a $28,000 allowance race at six furlongs. Correa has now ridden Purdy Pumpkin to two victories and two seconds in her four trips aboard the daughter of First Dude.

Purdy Pumpkin broke cleanly from the No. 3 post and Correa slipped her through on the inside through a :22.84 quarter to vie for the lead on the turn. The filly owned, bred and trained by Jason DaCosta began to edge away at the top of the stretch and she continued on to win by three lengths in 1:11.60. The $16,800 winner’s check lifted her earnings to $45,840, an average of $9,168 for her five starts.

First Dude’s progeny earnings increased to $1,841,013 as he heads for another $2 million season.
