Berks continued his sensational 2023 season yesterday at Laurel Race Course with a wire-to-wire performance in a $62,930 Allowance Optional Claiming race under Jaime Rodriguez.

    The 4-year-old First Dude gelding who has been so outstanding for owner/breeder Jagger Inc. and trainer Jamie Ness made it two victories in a row, and six of his last seven, with a 3 1/2-length score at a mile and a sixteenth. He was clocked in 1:45.74 and paid $3.60. Berks raised his record to 11-1-2 in 23 career starts, and the $40,020 check vaulted his bank account to $344,850. In 2023 alone, he’s won 7 of 11 with earnings of $210,190. 

    Jagger Inc. and Ness lost the gelding for $40,000.
