Berks Goes Wire-to-Wire at Laurel for 13th Victory

After taking a break of almost three months, Berks has returned with two victories in a row at Parx and Laurel for owner/breeder Jagger Inc., and now has 13 for his 32-race career.

The 6-year-old Maryland-bred gelding by First Dude had Jaime Rodriguez aboard in his latest at a mile and one-sixteenth and they took the lead right out of the gate. Berks continued on in front and was never seriously threatened, winning by nearly two lengths over his fast-closing stablemate, Walk Away Joe, clocked in 1:47.70. The entry paid just $2.80, and Berks added $12,420 to his bank account, which now stands at $378,520. He moved up one spot to 12th on First Dude’s $200,000 list.
