Bahamian Squall’s 7th winner is a foxy filly

After three previous riders were unable to find the right mojo for Foxy Austin’s first four races, Samy Camacho solved the riddle of the 3-year-old daughter of Bahamian Squall at Tampa Bay Downs yesterday.

Camacho broke Foxy Austin with the leaders, then maneuvered her back to a stalking position in third following a :22.52 first quarter. He put her in another gear coming to the turn, went up to battle pacesetter Natasha’s Bizniz into the stretch, and out-gamed the 5/2 shot in the final yards to win by half a length.

The maiden-breaking victory by the $4,000 OBS October yearling bred by Kathryn Lombardi was worth $10,300, and a generous $23.60 at the mutuel windows. She raced 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:06.58, becoming Bahamian Squall’s seventh winner of 2022.
