He’s On the Fly lived up to his name yesterday at Presque Isle Downs. The 6-year-old gelding by Bahamian Squall jumped out to the lead leaving the gate and never looked back, winning the 5 1/2-furlong race over the all-weather track by 3 1/4 lengths and rewarding his backers with an $11.00 mutuel payoff.
Walber Alencar was aboard He’s On the Fly, and he guided the gelding past the poles in :23.05 and 47.04 before reaching the wire in 1:05.73 and collecting the $6,500 winner’s check. The gelding bred by Peggy J. Follin raised his record to 4-3-2 in 20 starts and his bank account to $54,912, while becoming Bahamian Squall’s 11th winner of 2023.
