Bahamian Squall Filly Scores a Knockout at Woodbine

After finishing ninth and fifth in her lone two races as a 2-year-old last year, Hear Me Knocking spent more than eight months on the shelf before returning over the weekend to break her maiden in a seven-furlong test over the Tapeta surface at Woodbine.

Ryan Munger was aboard the 3-year-old Bahamian Squall filly, who was off third in the three path stalking the two leaders down the backstretch. Coming to the turn, Munger let her loose for a three-wide move and when they hit the top of the stretch, Hear Me Knocking was head-to-head with pace-setter PS Rising Star. She passed the 7/2 shot in mid-stretch and drew off to coast home by nearly two lengths, clocked in 1:27.29.

The filly bred in Ontario by Karly and Michaela Kemp paid $6 while becoming winner No. 13 for Bahamian Squall this year. A $20,611 Canadian September yearling, she earned a check for $10,311 U. S. and was claimed out of the race.
