Bahamian Dude, a 4-year-old gelding bred by Donald Dizney, became the 101st runner by Bahamian Squall to visit the winner’s circle with a powerful front-running effort in an allowance race at Fort Erie yesterday.
Peter Mailhot was aboard Bahamian Dude, who left quickly in the race at five furlongs, took the lead by himself in a :22.59 quarter, and cruised the rest of the trip over a muddy track to score by 2 1/2 lengths while eased up the last sixteenth of a mile. He was clocked in :58.63, paid $6.10 and earned a check for $9,840 Canadian, $7,165 U. S.
Bahamian Dude, who passed the $1 million mark in 2022 progeny earnings two weeks ago, went 0-for-4 in his first four races in Florida, and is 3-1-0 in five starts since moving north of the border.
