Bahama Pearl Wire-to-Wire at Pimlico; Bahamian Squall Nearing $1 Million

Bahamian Squall came $21,600 closer to his first million-dollar season yesterday when Bahama Pearl went wire-to-wire racing six furlongs at Pimlico under J. D. Acosta.

The healthy check boosted Bahamian Squall’s earnings for 2022 to $983,014, and he went over $2.6 million lifetime.

Bahama Pearl jumped out to the lead at the break and controlled the pace throughout. The lone threat came from 6-1 shot Watch Your Tone, who closed with a rush and finished a neck short at the wire. Bahama Pearl paid $8.60 after racing the six furlongs in 1:12.55 and raised her earnings to $90,250 on a record of 3-6-6 in 27 starts. The 5-year-old mare bred by Shade Tree Thoroughbreds and Joyce Corwin hasn’t been worse than third in her last nine starts.
