Laprida and Icy Dude Find Right Mojo at Parx Racing

Jeremy Laprida and the gelding Icy Dude have teamed up to win two in a row at Parx Racing, where the son of First Dude has posted his best two Equibase ‘E’ speed figures over the past six months.

Icy Dude rolled to a 3 3/4-length score on March 8, receiving a 96 ‘E’, and returned yesterday to win by a neck at a mile and 70 yards and receive an 85. Laprida had the gelding bred by Don Dizney sitting chilly in fourth down the backstretch, and Icy Dude swung out to the three path at the top of the stretch, running past  the leaders late to boost his record to 5-7-1 in 24 starts.

The winner’s check added $18,000 to the bank account of the full brother to Mama Joyce ($235,619), raising his career total to $129,535, with $42,140 coming this year. After rewarding his backers to the tune of $23.80 in March, he still paid a generous $15 for this one.
