Petulant Delight went to the post for the 25th time in his career yesterday, with most of those races coming at Parx Racing. After his wire-to-wire score with Dexter Haddock in a $23,000 starter allowance, his record at the track near Philadelphia is 23-5-5-4.
Haddock put the 5-year-old gelding by First Dude on the lead at the break in the race at one mile and 70 yards, and he was shadowed almost every step of the way by Nileator, the 2-1 favorite. Nileator inched into the lead briefly at the top of the stretch, but Petulant Delight dug in and Haddock was able to urge him to the wire a nose in front, clocked in 1:42.29.
Petulant Delight, bred by Ocala Stud, was a $37,000 OBS April 2-year-old. He earned $13,200 for his fifth victory, increasing his total to $119,005.
