Following Foxy Gator’s name on Equibase is her foaling date of April 5, 2013, making her one of First Dude’s oldest runners from his initial crop – and still performing.
Yesterday, the 8-year-old mare bred by Double Diamond Farm scored her first victory of 2021, and 13th of her long career, utilizing a strong finish to prevail in a 6-furlong race over a muddy surface at Mountaineer Resort & Casino.
Alex Gonzalez was aboard Foxy Gator, who broke well from the rail and took up a good position on the inside, three lengths behind the pace-setter. Gonzalez sent her after the leader on the turn, and Foxy Gator coasted away down the lane, winning by 2 1/4 lengths. She paid $7 and raised her earnings to $164,063 on a record of 13-13-18 in 75 starts.
Foxy Gator gave her sire his 51st winner, and left him less than $3,000 from reaching $1.9 million in 2021 progeny earnings.
