Due North made it look easy at Thistledown yesterday, boosting her record to 3-0-4 in 10 starts with a daylight score at 5 1/2 furlongs.
The 4-year-old First Dude filly broke running from post 7 with Jose Bracho, who quickly eased her back to fifth down the backstretch. She put it another gear coming to the turn and inhaled the leaders without so much as taking a breath as they hit the top of the stretch. She was never challenged late, winning by nearly five widening lengths.
Due North earned $6,660 and left First Dude just $413 short of reaching $1.2 million in progeny earnings for 2021. She’s posted a record of 2-0-3 in her last five tries.
