With so many tracks currently operating around the country, one never knows where a First Dude might show up and Friday night Gaspergou showed up at the Columbus Races, in Columbus, Nebraska.
But all victories count on a stallion’s record and the 4-year-old gelding bred by Bill Rasco won for the second time this year. With Scott Bethke in the irons, Gaspergou endured a wide trip throughout the race at six furlongs, remained four wide with a big run on the turn, came into the stretch six wide and ran down the leaders to score by a length. He was clocked in 1:13.60, paid $27.20, and raised his 2021 record to 2-3-0 in nine starts after having registered just two seconds in his first 13 tries.
First Dude is less than $18,000 away from reaching $1 million in 2021 progeny earnings.
