Ragatagtag Buries Rivals on the Lone Prairie

First Dude inched closer to the $1 million mark in 2021 progeny earnings with the victory of Ragatagtag at Prairie Meadows last evening.

The 5-year-old mare bred by Adam and Suzette Parker at T-Square Stud was off fourth from the No. 7 post in the starter allowance and never came close to seeing the rail for the entire 5 1/2-furlong trip. She traveled four wide down the backstretch, and cruised up to third with a strong mid-track run on the turn. She then chased down the leader in deep stretch, making up three lengths from the sixteenth pole home, and winning by 1 1/4 lengths in 1:04 33.

Ragatagtag, a bargain $4,000 OBS October yearling in 2017, paid $5.60 as favorite and earned a check for $8,850, raising her career total to $130,065 on a record of 6-7-2 in 24 starts. First Dude, second on the Florida general sire list, is less than $40,000 away from $1 million and has registered nine winners in the past 21 days.
