Call the fire department – Bahamian Squall is blazing. One week short of his third birthday, lightly-raced My Mane Man scored his second victory in a row at Gulfstream Park yesterday, giving the stallion by Gone West his fourth winner in the last seven days.
Emisael Jaramillo has been aboard My Mane Man for all three of his starts, resulting in a third in his debut, followed by the two victories. He sent the 3-year-old out quickly in the $47,000, seven-furlong allowance race and the gelding bred by Pam Edel raced down the backstretch glued to the flank of pace-setter Cowboy At Heart through fractions of :22.59, 45.42 and 1:10.17. Jaramillo gunned him on the turn and My Mane Man, favored at odds of 7/5, took the lead into the stretch and held on gamely late to win by half a length in 1:23.36.
The victory was worth $28,900 and boosted My Mane Man’s earnings to $57,740. Bahamian Squall, with only 27 runners in 2021, moved up to 12th place on the Florida sire list with earnings of $404,803.
