Bahamian Rhapsody prepped for yesterday’s maiden-breaking victory at Gulfstream Park in her previous three starts, which produced two seconds and a third. As a result, the daughter of Bahamian Squall was sent off as the even-money favorite in the race at five furlongs, with Emisael Jaramillo in the irons.
The 3-year-old filly bred by Linda S. Pastor jumped out of the gate from the No. 7 post and was quickly joined on her outside by Pink Posse, the 8/5 second choice. The pair raced that way through fractions of :22.94 and :45.51, several lengths ahead of the rest of the field, and at the top of the stretch Bahamian Rhapsody left her rival behind and went on to score by 2 1/2 lengths in :57.71.
The victory for Bahamian Squall’s 12th winner of 2021 was worth $12,900.
