Fair Grounds Rivals Couldn’t Do Much About It

Before she showed up in a six-furlong race at Fair Grounds yesterday, Much About It had scored victories at Gulfstream Park, Gulfstream West, Tampa Bay Downs and Remington Park. With apprentice Santos Rivera in the saddle, the 6-year-old daughter of First Dude made New Orleans her fifth winning venue while becoming her sire’s third winner in the last four days.

Much About It tracked pace-setter Shilah Baby in the two path through a quarter in :22.60. She went after the 4/5 favorite on the turn while drifting out four wide, took the lead in the stretch, then held off the closers by a neck.

The mare bred by Steve Tucker paid $19.20 after completing the three-quarters in 1:12.11, and earned a check for $10,800. She raised her total to $82,475 on a record of 6-3-2 in 27 starts.
