After leading Florida’s sires with 64 winners in 2020, First Dude has shown he’ll be going after a repeat in that category with only seven days gone in the new year. The son of Stephen Got Even already has two winners after Debonnaire Dude cruised to a stylish victory under veteran Tim Thornton at Delta Downs yesterday.
The 4-year-old gelding bred by Lynne and Chris Boutte battled for the lead from the outset in the one-mile race, surged to the front coming to the final turn, and after opening up by five lengths in mid-stretch, won by 1 1/4. Based on his recent good form, Debonnaire Dude went off at odd of 3/5 and paid $3.40 while collecting a check for $7,200. He’s now 2-2-1 in his last five starts.
