With just 16 days remaining on the 2020 racing schedule, First Dude has already wrapped up the title as Florida’s leading sire of winners this year with 63. That’s 11 better than Khozan and 12 better than Brethren. In addition, after yesterday’s victory by Miss Star Lo at Parx Racing, he’s second behind Khozan in the progeny earnings department, nearly $7,000 ahead of Brethren.
Miss Star Lo, bred by Tack Shack owner Marti Haught, put First Dude within four of hitting the 100 mark with respect to number of winning races this year. The 6-year-old mare took rider Gerardo Milan wire-to-wire, getting 5 1/2 furlongs in an excellent 1:04.66 over a track labeled ‘good’ while scoring by 3 1/2 lengths and paying a generous $18.20.
Miss Star Lo didn’t start until she was 29 days away from her fourth birthday, and she’s racked up a record of 40-6-4-6 since. Yesterdays check of $9,000 put her over the $100,000 mark at $102,370 for owner/trainer Jacinto Solis, who claimed her for $10,000 out of her third start in February of 2018.
At the age of six, Miss Star Lo’s earnings of $39,000 marks her best year ever.
