In this day, when geldings’ careers outlive all the rest, Bahamian Moon continues to raise eyebrows. The 8-year-old mare by Bahamian Squall not only is still racing, she’s in top form.
Bahamian Squall’s top race-winner and second-leading money-winner, Bahamian Moon made it two in a row with a wire-to-wire score at Tampa Bay Downs and now sports a 5-3-1-1 record in 2025. All told, she’s an imposing 12-17-4 in 51 career starts. In her latest, a $54,000 allowance optional claimer at five furlongs, Sara Hess guided her through fractions of :22.53 and :45.29 en route to a two-length victory in :57.84, just over one second off the track record. She received an Equibase ‘E’ speed figure of 93.
Bahamian Moon paid $5.80, and the check for $33,780 ballooned her career earnings to $433,839, with $119,140 coming this year.
