At the tender age of eight, Bahamian Moon doesn’t appear to have lost even one step. The daughter of Bahamian Squall captured a $54,000 allowance optional claimer under talented apprentice Sara Hess at Tampa Bay Downs, and came out of the race having logged several impressive statistics.
First, Bahamian Moon is the second-leading money-earner for her sire behind Spirit Wind with a healthy bank account of $400,059. Second, she’s Bahamian Squall’s No. 1 winner with 11 visits to the famed post-race circle. Third, she’s also No. 1 with an incredible 32 top threes (11-17-4) accomplished in 50 races.
The mare bred by Good Beginnings Farm was away third in the race at five furlongs on the grass, and went after the leader coming to the turn. She took the lead entering the stretch, drew off easily, and was geared down nearing the wire, winning by a length in a time of :55.60, just one and three-fifths seconds off the course record. She paid $8.20 and collected a check for $33,780, raising her 2025 total to $85,360 in four races (2-1-1).
