Cindy’s Song is on the verge of reaching $100,000 in career earnings after her wire-to-wire victory under Samy Camacho over a sloppy track at Tampa Bay Downs on Wednesday. At the same time, the 6-year-old mare bred by Ponder Hill Inc. became the 3,000th runner to finish in the money for First Dude.
Camacho put Cindy’s Song on the lead at the break and she lulled her rivals to sleep with crawling fractions of :24.48, :48.58 and 1:13.62 before reaching the wire nearly four lengths in front in 1:41.71 for the mile and 40-yard trip. She paid $35 for her fourth victory in Tampa and raised her record to 5-3-3 in 34 starts. The check for $11,150 left the $95,000 OBS June 2-year-old less than $900 from the $100,000 mark.
