With Two More Victories, First Dude is Milestone Ready

First Dude is inches away from his latest pair of milestones after the victories of red-hot Impacto at Tampa Bay Downs and Berks at Parx Racing. With Neigh Dude running today, First Dude’s career progeny earnings have reached $27,995,541 and the combined win-place-show finishes by his runners is 2,998. So he could reach $28 million today, and 2,999.

IMPACTO – The 6-year-old gelding bred by Jose Manuel Contreras made it three victories in his last four starts with his 1 3/4-length score under Ademar Santos. In the $47,850 allowance optional claimer, he raced seven furlongs in an excellent 1:22.45, paid $7.00 and was claimed out of the race. He now sports a record of 9-2-3 in 20 starts, and the check for $34,115 raised his total to $170,401, with $70,265 coming in his four starts since Jan. 1. He’s a good candidate to join First Dude’s $200,000-club in the near future.

BERKS – Already a $200,000-club member, the Maryland-bred 6-year-old gelding won his first start of 2025 in wire-to-wire fashion under Mychel Sanchez and raised his overall record to 12-1-2 in 31 starts. Sanchez lulled the field to sleep with crawling fractions of :24.55, :50.13 and 1:15.91, and Berks held off Pit Boss by a neck in 1:49.07 for the 1 1/16 miles after the 7/2 shot stalked him for the entire trip. It was nearly seven lengths back to the third-place finisher. Berks paid $9 and earned a check for $10,800, ballooning his career bank account to $366,100. He received an Equibase ‘E’ speed figure of 95 for the effort.
