Petulant Delight Still Battling at Age 9

Petulant Delight used a strong finish to return to the winner’s circle at Parx Racing after a dry spell of six months, showing at the ripe old age of nine it’s not yet time to retire.

The First Dude gelding bred by Ocala Stud Farm had Luis Rivera up in a race at six furlongs. He was off in mid-pack but down the backstretch he fell about 10 lengths behind. On the turn, Rivera sent him after the leaders on the rail, then swung him wide, and Petulant Delight did the rest, coasting past the pack and drawing off to score by nearly two lengths in 1:12.75. He paid $17.20 and earned a check for $10,800, raising his career total to $248,499 on a record of 13-9-4 in 58 starts, which moved him into 22nd place on First Dude’s $200,000-plus list.

First Dude is about $87,000 away from reaching $1 million in progeny earnings for the year – again.
