“From last to first” is a popular term coined by U. S. announcers when a horse who trailed early comes roaring down the lane to get up and win. Gulfstream Park’s Pete Aiello put a new spin on the call when Naa Dudette rallied from out of the TV picture down the backstretch, caught the field at the top of the stretch and inhaled her eight rivals in the last sixteenth – “Here comes Naa Dudette rolling down the crown of the track.”

    The 4-year-old First Dude filly, ninth for three-quarters of a mile while carrying co-high-weight of 125 pounds, broke her maiden by 2 1/4 lengths under Jesus Rios, getting a mile and 70 yards over the Tapeta surface in 1:42.27 and paying $7.40. The filly bred by Hart Breeders collected a check for $15,000, raising her earnings to $69,592 on a record of 1-3-4 in 18 starts.
