After several days with few runners participating, First Dude and Bahamian Squall had nine go at various tracks on Wednesday and wound up the day with one winner, four seconds, one third, two fourths and one fifth.
For First Dude, Uno Uno won at Tampa Bay Downs and paid $24, Awesome First (12-1) was second at Gulfstream Park, and Neigh Dude (4-1) finished second at Parx Racing. For Bahamian Squall, Bahama Pearl (3/2) was second at Penn National, Sierra Diamond (11-1) finished second at Mahoning Valley, and Bahamian Baby (24-1) was third at Tampa Bay Downs.
With Melissa Iorio riding, Uno Uno broke her maiden in her sixth try and earned a check for $11,530. She was off third in the race at six furlongs, challenged on the turn and opened up by six lengths in the stretch, and was going easily at the wire, winning by nearly three in 1:13.54. The 3-year-old filly bred by Ponder Hill was a $1,200 OBS October yearling, then was RNA’d twice before beginning her racing career.
