First Dude: Just 3 More Wins to 1,000

First Dude is now just three winners’ circle visits short of 1,000 by his sons and daughters after Cindy’s Song became his 11th winner of the 2024 season at Tampa Bay Downs yesterday.

Daniel Centeno, former many-time leading rider in Oldsmar, was aboard the 5-year-old mare who annihilated the field in a race at a mile and a sixteenth on the grass despite being saddled by the No. 10 post. When the gate opened, Centeno got Cindy’s Song away quickly and just as quickly maneuvered her over to the rail. She rounded the first turn in fourth place, moved to the two path down the backstretch, then made a monster wide move on the turn which resulted in her taking the lead in the stretch. From there she left the field behind and was geared down nearing the wire, winning it by 4 1/4 widening lengths.

The $95,000 OBS June 2-year-old bred by Ponder Hill paid $25 and earned a check for $13,790, lifting her total to $75,673 on a record of 4-1-2 in 25 starts.
